Product Review – Chocolate Milk

     After a hard workout, many athletes depend on a certain  drink to help replenish their physically worn out bodies. For some athletes such as Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love, that product is chocolate milk. A couple years ago, these two athletes were some of the heads of a campaign that promoted the drinking of chocolate milk in order to refuel and energize after finishing any physical activity. While it is proven that chocolate milk has many health benefits and tastes delicious, I decided to dive in deeper to see what all the fuss about the brown cow was really about. After doing some research online and conducting some self-done experiments, here are the main points that I got out of drinking chocolate milk:

  1. Chocolate milk replenishes electrolytes and rehydrates the body. Chocolate milk is a great alternative to sports drinks such as Gatorade and Powerade and also costs much less.
  2. Protein from the milk helps repair muscles. After a hard workout, your body will surely thank you for helping speed up the recovery process.
  3. For some of the athletes, it is hard to eat solid foods. For these types of people, chocolate milk is a great alternative that still gives them the vital nutrients they need to get back into it as soon as possible.
  4. Chocolate milk tastes delicious. There is something about the taste of chocolate milk that makes everyone smile (as long as you are not lactose intolerant).
  5. Chocolate milk is rich in calcium to help your bones grow big and strong. The calcium that you intake from the chocolate milk is key in helping kids and young athletes.

    As a current athlete in two different sports, I would definitely agree that if you want a cheap and tasty supplement that has all of the resources to replenish the body, chocolate milk is the way to go.
