Caramel Popcorn Recipe

Caramel popcorn is a popular snack among many people and is definitely a fun and easy to make. Whether it’s for a movie night, delicious Christmas gift, or just a simple snack to get you through the day, caramel popcorn is perfect for any occasion. This delicious recipe will keep you crunching on this popcorn all day long and is an easy recipe that can be prepared in 15 min!

 

Note: The popcorn can be made with a pot on the stove or a paper bag microwave method.

-Makes about 9 cups caramel popcorn

 

How to pop kernels using the paper bag method:

Ingredients:

Brown paper bag

1 tsp oil

⅛ tsp salt

Other seasonings as desired (cinnamon, garlic, pepper, etc.)

 

Instructions:

  1. Measure ⅓ cup of kernels and place it into a bowl along with 1 tsp of oil
  2. Place it into the paper bag, and add salt
  3. Fold the top of the bag so kernels don’t spill out
  4. Microwave for about 2-3 minutes, or until there are more than 3 seconds between pop noises

 

Caramel corn recipe:

Ingredients:

8 cups of freshly made popcorn (⅓ cup kernels)  

1 cup of nuts (if desired)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup agave nectar (or other sweeteners: honey, corn syrup, etc.)

½ tsp salt

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp vanilla

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees
  2. Place popped popcorn in a bowl and add nuts
  3. Heat butter, brown sugar, sweetener, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a boil, stirring until butter is melted. Reduce the heat and cook, uncovered, for five minutes
  4. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in baking soda & vanilla.
  5. Pour the syrup over the nuts & popcorn, stirring quickly.
  6. Spread the mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for one hour, removing briefly every 15 minutes to stir.
  7. Spread the mixture onto wax paper to cool
  8. Enjoy!
