Athlete’s Corner: Checking in with senior Jessica Majka

Q: What are you looking forward to when able to play for PVHS?

A: “I think I speak for everyone on Varsity when I say that we are excited to play Mira Costa again. Last year, we beat Costa on our home court for the first time in our program’s history. It would be amazing to do that again.”

Q: How have you been able to train during the pandemic?

A: “When gyms were closed, I had to use my backyard as a makeshift volleyball court to get reps and keep up with my sports performance workouts. It was an adjustment learning how to play by myself because I was limited in what skills I could work on without needing the rest of my team.”

Q: How do you feel about the season getting pushed back

A: “I was disappointed when I learned that our season had been pushed back, but I was even more concerned about how high school volleyball would overlap with my club season. Because a majority of the girls on the volleyball team play club, there may be conflicts with practice schedules and travel tournaments.”
