Landon Donovan’s Return to Soccer.

These past couple of weeks MLS (Major League Soccer) fans have been questioning if Landon Donovan really has come back out of retirement. Well, the rumors are true, he’s back and will be starting a new DONAVAN ERA. For those of you who need a quick catch up on who he is,  Landon Donovan is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for the LA Galexy. He announced his retirement on August 7th, 2014 at the end of the 2014 Major League Soccer season. And that year the LA Galaxy ended the season winning their fourth MLS Cup of the DONOVAN ERA on December 7, 2014. Recently in an interview with the MLS Landon breaks down his decision  coming back to professional soccer. Donovan said that his decision had to do with the three injuries that occurred in the Galaxy vs Vancouver game.  Gyasi Zardes was declared out for the rest of the season and Nigel de Jong was announced to being transferred. And so Landon got some playful questions from friends asking if he was going to come back to help out the team.  Landon really started taking this in consideration, but not only because he wanted to help out his team. Another reason was he wanted to experience the LA Galaxy fan support environment with his son. Instead of just telling him about it. Many LA fans are thrilled that their Cristiano Ronaldo of U.S soccer history is coming back.

Palos Verdes High School  senior Alayne Taylor senior and soccer player on the varsity soccer team she said this when asked if she thought Landon is Cristiano Ronaldo for U.S soccer,“ No way, I mean Landon is always going to be a legend, but no one compares to Cristiano Ronaldo’s creativity, talent and pure skills on and off the ball.” Jason Saathoff senior at PVHS, fullback/striker for Beach FC, and huge soccer fan also agrees with Alayne as he says “ I do believe he is the greatest American to play the game, but not the Ronaldo or Messi of American soccer. And I think Donovan retired too early. He had just turned 32 and his retirement was just a reaction to him being dropped by Jurgen Klinsmann for the World Cup..”Jason also mentioned “ I’m sure his mind stayed in the game during his retirement, but I don’t think physically he’ll be able to keep up. I think the Cristiano Ronaldo of U.S soccer is Christian Pulisic once he reaches his prime.” But junior Kiara Camacho who is also a soccer fan disagrees with the seniors as she states, “ Of course Landon is the Ronaldo of U.S soccer history. He made such an impact on the game, I’m glad he’s back… Donovan Era part two!” So this is what some of the sea kings of PVHS  had to say… What do you think about the return of the Donavan  era?
