Festival Fever Hits Campus

This weekend, thousands of people will mob to the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles to see lively performances by favored Hip-hop and Rap artists. The festival often comes close to selling out, and it’s tough for people to get good spots at each stage.

Senior Finley Shannon remembered the chaos of last year’s festival.  She arrived early and after ramming through the crowds and being nudged back and forth, she looked up to see a diminutive area packed with people and three stages.

“The location was misleading for the amount of tickets that were sold,” Shannon said. “It was challenging for people to get around to the food stands and bathrooms together, it was overcrowded everywhere.”

Most of the people around were dressed in funky outfits connecting their style to the “festival look” including patterns and bright colors. The fashion chosen for Rolling Loud is not nearly as crazy and revealing as other popular festivals like Coachella, according to Shannon. In preparation for the event, festival goers put together their outfit for each day and are all ears with music that they are soon to see in person.

Aside from the headliners, the other performers are also on high demand to see. This year’s headliners include  Chance The Rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, Juice World, Young Thug, YG, Future and a few others.

Last year, the headliners for Rolling Loud 2018 were Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Cardi B, and Lil Uzi Vert. Each year a fresh lineup is introduced that excites the fans.

“Although, the artist Trippie Red was not a headliner, I was ecstatic to see him perform,” Shannon said. Once it was time for the artists to perform, the crowd grew more and more energetic and at times crazy, she said.

Rolling Loud Los Angeles is this weekend,  December 14-15, which marks the end for “festival season” until 2020.
