Year of the Pig: 2019 Predictions

2019 is the Year of the Pig. While it is highly unlikely for any of us current students to have the zodiac sign of a “pig” due to our ages, we all have something in common: a wish for a great and lucky new year.

The first day of the 2019 Chinese zodiac year is February 4, and Chinese New Year begins February 5.

Although the Chinese zodiac system has time cycles divided into 12 parts like the western zodiac, the Chinese system assigns each year to an animal. The pig is the 12th zodiac in the 12-year cycle, starting from 1923 and continuing on every twelve years.

The story behind this goes far back to a tale in which 12 animals (zodiacs) raced to the finish line.

The pig came in last since it did not like to compete with other animals. Despite being the last zodiac, the pig is considered to be a lucky animal.

People who are “pigs” are described as considerate, responsible, warm-hearted, independent, hardworking, loyal, and optimistic.

According to the Chinese horoscope, it is predicted that the year of the pig will be a great year since the pig represents wealth and generosity.

Each zodiac differs in its 2019 predictions. Most students at PVHS have zodiac symbols of the rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, and the chicken.

Here are some predictions applicable to those of the pig zodiac:

This year, work will seem slower than it did last year. However, it will be a great time to learn new skills.

As for finance, the horoscope forecasts that you will experience more wealth if you only spend money on things you need rather than spend frivolously.

You will start your year with lots of energy and will be very busy.

Lucky colors include red, white, and gold, and lucky numbers include 2 and 9.

Whether or not you believe in the Chinese horoscope, the western horoscope, or none at all, we hope for a great year of happiness and prosperity in 2019.
