The long awaited game started with a player from Peninsula High School doing a kickoff. Everyone’s eyes were focused on the ball as it soared across the unforgettable blue sky. As it landed on the other side of the field everybody when rushed towards the ball’s approximate landing. Everything was rapid and the audience watched with full concentration, studying every second. The cheerleaders danced and performed difficult stunts as Red Tide chanted with all their might. The beautiful music that the band played filled the air while the color guard girls pranced on the track, twirling their flags. A  junior from PVHS, Felicia Lin explains her opinion on the game,“I think there’s a lot of rivalry between our schools, and it’s a friendly competition most of the time. The chanting that could be heard across the field was great because it was like watching two siblings bickering.”

It was only the first quarter and Palos Verdes High School had already scored two touchdowns. Both teams from both schools were exhausted, but they proved their diligence by playing their best each quarter. The game ended with Palos Verdes High School winning and Palos Verdes Peninsula High School losing. The score was 33 to 0 with Palos Verdes High School scoring the 33. At the end the game, Red Tide tossed a sack of red baby powder into the atmosphere to commemorate Sea King victory and raided the football field to congratulate the football team.

Although the football match was not a close game, both teams showed great sportsmanship and students from both schools were able to reunite with their old friends. “There may be a lot of rivalries, but this was a great opportunity to for Sea Kings and Panthers to reunite” Caroline Collins, a freshman at PV High states her experience. The Pv vs Pen game was a great game regardless of the scores and Sea Kings were able to socialize while cheering for the football team.
