2.      : Otherwise known as the return of the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte, Ugg Boots with oversized knit-sweaters, a new season of “the Walking Dead”, etc.

What is “Fall”? Is it the changing of leaves, the crisp, cool mornings with light rain showers, or the act of warming up by the fire as the weather starts to turn cold? Seeing as California is currently facing severe drought and heat waves, the meaning of fall for most Sea Kings has become far less poetic and much more materialistic.

Nonetheless, here is what to look forward to this fall:

New seasons in the New Season

Dedicated fans of “the Walking Dead” also looked forward to September 12th, when season five of the zombie, horror drama would return. Based on the comic book series by Frank Darabont, the newest season is said to be the most ambitious season ever in terms of action as well as emotion.

Another highly anticipated show  “the American Horror Story: Freak Show”, aired its fourth season the October 8th. While some critics argue that the show is slowly getting less scary, others argue it is the most “killer season yet”.

“The Voice” and “Scandal” also aired new seasons this fall, along with a couple new series like “How to Get Away with Murder” and “Selfie”.

Iphone 6

The highly anticipated iPhone 6 was released this September and has received many mixed reviews. The largest and thinnest iPhone so far, Apple also claims that the new phone has a longer lasting battery life, better resolution, and faster WiFi. Unfortunately, soon after the release of the device on Sept. 19, reports of the phone bending when placed in  pockets began to surface. Nevertheless, sales of the latest iPhone topped 10 million during its launch weekend and set a new record for pre-orders.

Cozy up with PSL

Although autumn officially started on Sept. 22, for most Starbucks goers, it really began twenty days earlier with the return of the sweet and spicy Pumpkin Spice Latte. The handcrafted signature espresso beverage contains a creamy pumpkin flavored sauce and warm seasonal spices that most find strangely addicting despite the heat. In addition to the drink, Starbucks has also introduced some  new fall-inspired treats such as pumpkin scones and pumpkin cream cheese muffins.

What’s in your Closet

Due to the extreme weather, it’s probably not the best idea to be whipping out those Uggs just yet. Not to worry though, as there are plenty of seasonal fashions you can wear without passing out from the heat.

Instead of big, warm sweaters and fuzzy socks, some equally fashionable, alternative fall styles include fringed scarves, floral print, bold patterns, cut-offs, distressed jeans and combat boots- all practical, Vogue-approved trends for the heat.
