“Friends” by Annie Marie and Marshmello is a song about being friendzoned and Annie Marie being tired of Marshmello confessing his love. Even though the lyrics are harsh, the song is something everyone has gone through and can allow people to connect with both sides.

“Psycho” by Post Malone is a great song. The song is really about Post Malone flexing his jewelry, but his distinct voice is really what makes this song great.

A new spin on a old classic, “Africa” by Weezer is a phenomenal song. The song is about the struggle of people in Africa, and what the singer would feel like if he was there. The song is great, and makes you constantly want to sing along.

“SICKO MODE”, a collaboration between Travis Scott and Drake, is one of the best rap songs of 2018. The song is about Scott and Drake’s work ethic allowing them to be much better than everyone else, and how they go “sicko” mode. The song is so interesting because of the beat changes at 1:00 and 3:00.

“This is America” by Childish Gambino brings up controversial topics such as gun violence and race. Starting upbeat, the song soon turns dark. In the music video you are stunned to see scenes of gun violence that leave you with the chills. The song is thought provoking.

4. SAD

“SAD” by xxxtentacion is one of the last songs created by this artist who was killed this year. The song details the struggle of losing loved ones and depression. The song is sad, but still really great.

3. LUCID DREAMS

“Lucid Dreams” is about the horrible heartbreak of break-up. The song is really interesting and smooth. It is very enjoyable to listen to.

“I Like it” by Cardi B was the hit of the summer. Upbeat and catchy, the song is a ton of fun. Cardi B is revolutionizing woman rappers.

1. GOD’S PLAN

“God’s Plan” is the best song of the year. The song details how people want Drake to fail, yet God would never let him do that. It also has other themes such as giving back, which is showcased in the music video. The song is fun, catchy, and all around great.
